Abandoned Car

We were hiking in Arizona when we found an old red car abandoned in an arroyo. The dry Arizona desert has a way of preserving old cars--so arid, there is little rust or rot. It was faded by the sun, even in the shade.
It's not totally uncommon to come across old cars in the desert. People run out of gas, or break down, or are maybe feeing the law. The desert has a lot of secrets and keeps them well.
It's sort of exciting to find an abandoned car. There's a thrill of mystery and adventure, and maybe even a little danger. We loved the red car. She said if it ran, it should be ours and we could drive it to Mexico.
We stopped in the heat of the day for a break to let the sun go down some and cool a bit before heading back. It was probably 90 degrees even in the shade. She stripped naked, and sat on the car. I took a few snapshots to document our discovery. Then we made love with her on the hood of the car and me standing.

HIKING WITH LARA
A few years back, I dated a girl who loved to hike. It seemed we went on a hike nearly every weekend. I wish I had more photos, though. I was always trying to pack light. At the time, you say to yourself, "I'll always remember this." But the truth is, a simple photo brings back everything of that day, the heat, the humidity, the buzz of insects in summer. How tired we were, and how we had gotten in a stupid argument early that day.
When we returned to the car, Lara changed into clean, dry clothes for the trip home. I grabbed my camera. I caught her just before she'd slipped on fresh underwear. Maybe its not the sexiest pose--she's half caught off guard, half amused. It brings back a lot of good memories, though.

CAR CAMPING '57
They were young once, too. Teenagers. They threw a mattress into the back of their station wagon. Took it on road trips up HWY 1. Back then, it wasn't as crowded. You could find whole stretches of beach north of Big Sur that you could have all to yourself. When they found a good spot, sometimes they'd stay for a few days, and just hang out. Clothes weren't really necessary, until nightfall.

THE GOOD OLD DAYS
Some people say the good old days, and you think--I'm sure they weren't that good. People tend to recall the past with nostalgia. They cast it in amber, as a golden, carefree time. Sometimes a photo or a letter or a diary entry will remind them that the past wasn't all that good, and had its share of heartaches and troubles. But sometimes the evidence confirms--those favorite times really were that good.

THE ROAD HOME
We had a break, and she thought we should go see her parents in Madison. I would have rather stayed in Minneapolis, where we could have our privacy and a lot of sex. We couldn't have sex at her folks house, obviously. I stayed in the guest room. already after the first hour of driving, we were already sexually frustrated.
After the second hour of driving, when she said that she was frustrated and bored, I said, "Well, you know what to do."
"Right here, right now?" she asked.
"We're stuck in the car for another hour," I said. "Might as well."
